In this article
This document describes how to create deal IDs for cohorts connected in your Permutive project and how to make them available to advertisers.
Programmatic deals are routed through a Permutive curation seat within Xandr. This allows Permutive to consolidate deals for buyers and create an easier workflow. It also allows us to understand and report on usage.
Note: The Permutive curation seat will inherit any floors and similar settings from your deal setup.
Finding Targeting Values
Any cohort which is targeted in your environment will have a unique ID. This targeting value gets passed into Xandr as a key-value which then gets mapped to a deal ID. In order to create the deal, you will first need to find the respective targeting value.
Defining the Targeting Key
Tip: This step only needs to be done once. If the targeting key is already defined, there is no need to do this again for any subsequent deals.
In Xandr, you need to define the targeting key p_standard
. This support article describes how you can create this targeting key (section "Create a Targeting Key"). Please define it as a text value and not as numeric.
Entering the Key Values
In Xandr, you will need to define the key values that correspond to each cohort that is included in this campaign. This Xandr support page describes how to add targeting values under the targeting key p_standard
.
Creating a New Advertiser
Creating Permutive as an Advertiser ensures that all deals created for Permutive's Audience Platform campaigns are kept in one place.
Tip: This step only needs to be done once. If Permutive is already set up as an Advertiser, there is no need to do this again for any subsequent campaigns.
1. In Xandr Monetize, go to Advertisers > All Advertiser
2. Click on '+New' to create a new advertiser
Below are the recommended settings:
Name: | Permutive |
State: | Active |

Creating a new agency or buyer
Each buyer or agency should be created into a separate insertion order. All deals for the specific buyer or agency will be kept here, regardless of the campaign.
Tip: This step only needs to be done once per agency or buyer. If the specific agency or buyer has already been created, there is no need to do this again for any subsequent campaigns.
1. Head to Advertisers > All Advertisers
2. Under the Permutive advertiser you previously set up, click on the number below ‘Ins Order’
3. Click ‘+ New’ to add a new agency or buyer
4. Add in the name of the buyer and choose the following options:
Name |
Give it a descriptive name and include the Project ID. The Project ID can be found in the Campaign outreach email. Example: Sunset Airways - af1261e1-b5de-466a-bbbf-3a6127823f2d |
State | Active |
Currency | As requested by the buyer (can be found in Campaign Brief) |
Viewability Standard | IAB |
Budget Type |
Revenue |
Billing Periods |
No End Date and Unlimited Budget |
5. Click ‘Save’.
Creating Deal Line Item
1. Under the Permutive advertiser, click the name of the buyer you are setting up for the deal e.g. 'Sunset Airways'
2. Scroll down to Line Items and click ‘+ New Deal Line Item’. Each deal line item corresponds to a single deal.
Deal Settings:
Insertion order - Select agency/buyer for this deal.
Ad Type - This determines the availability of other settings. Display and AMP video can be combined into one deal.
Ad Size - Select what applies to this campaign (can be found in Campaign brief)
Name - This is your internal name for the deal. We recommend using the same one used in "Deal Name" below.
State - Active
Budget Type - Revenue will be selected by default based on Insertion Order.
Deal - Select ‘Create a Deal’
Deal Name - Please use the following structure for the deal name:
Permutive - {Cohort Name} - {Cohort ID}.
Example: Permutive - Automotive - 159f0522-c9f7-412d-9c23-b67700d6a3d6
You can utilize alternate naming, but please include the advertiser name and the cohort ID.
Note: The cohort ID is the long identifier that you find in the first column of the cohort table. More information on finding the cohort ID can be found here.
Buyer - Set the Permutive Xandr Curation Seat (ID 12030) as the buyer.
Revenue Type - Set the floor price depending on your advertiser relationship or your default floor for the open exchange. On the Permutive deals configured, winning bidders will ultimately have won at a price above all of your other demand.
Flights - Set flight dates to ‘No End Date’, starting now. Leaving flight dates as unlimited is recommended, as cohorts might be targeted for more than just one campaign.
Supply Strategy - Set priority to be equal priority as other deals.
Managed Inventory - Keep default for all.
Inventory Type - Set the inventory type web traffic only.
Targeting:
Key/Value - Search ‘p_standard’
and select the key value you entered previously. Ensure ‘Any’ of the following Key/Value groups is selected.
Do not add any Geography or Device filters.
3. Click 'Save'.
Once saved, you can find the Deal ID on the Line Items screen or the Deals screen.
Please refer to the Xandr documentation below for more information on creating deals and Key Value targeting:
Share the Deal ID
Once the deal has been created in Xandr, navigate to the Advertiser connection:
1. Find the Cohort
2. Click on the 'Edit or Create' button to enter the Deal ID and your floor price.
Note: If the Advertiser has multiple cohorts, separate deal line items will need to be created for each cohort.
