A guide to collecting Survey Data from BeOp
BeOp allows you to run multiple-choice surveys on your site. This declared first-party data can be extremely useful in building segments, whether for demographics or purchase intent.
The setup requires work in Permutive and the BeOp platform. It's important to ensure you have access to both before starting.
Tip: Check with your Customer Success Manager that this collector is a part of your Permutive plan.
Setting up the custom events in Permutive
Please reach out to Permutive support, who will be able to create the custom SurveyResponse event in Permutive. This event will be collected for every answer. If a survey has multiple questions, an event will be emitted for every question.
The event will have the following data points:
Name | Description |
Answer ID | BeOp ID of the answer |
Answer text | Text of the answer |
Answer valid | Whether the answer is valid or not |
Question ID | BeOp ID of the answer |
Question Text | Text of the question |
Survey ID | BeOp ID of the survey |
Survey Complete | Whether the survey is completed |
Note: SurveyResponse events will also contain default properties such as the page URL and page title.
Emitting survey responses from BeOp
The next step is to ensure BeOp survey responses are collected in Permutive. You can find instructions for this on BeOp's site.
Building survey-based segments
Once set up, the SurveyResponse event will appear in the event drop-down list in your segment builder.
A common way to use this data is to build a segment of users who have answered a question in a certain way, for example users whose gender is "female":
