A guide to sending Permutive DMP cohorts to Xandr (formerly AppNexus) DSP from Permutive DMP using a Tracking Pixel activation.

Permutive DMP has a Xandr DSP integration which automatically creates cohort definitions in Xandr DSP  based on the Permutive DMP audiences and sends users as they enter cohorts.

However, for this integration Permutive DMP needs to be granted admin permissions to the Xandr DSP instance and this is not always possible. For example, the Xandr DSP instance could belong to your client rather than your organization.

In a situation like this, you can obtain a cohort pixel from the DSP owner and send your user using our Tracking Pixel activation.

1. Get a cohort pixel from Xandr

Xandr has details on how to obtain the pixel URL in their Working with Cohorts guide (Xandr Customer login required).

It will have the general format of:

2. Create a Tracking Pixel Activation in Permutive DMP Dashboard

Use `Add Activation` button in Activations tab. Fill in the Name, Tags and Description information as required.

In the Pixel URL field of the Action section paste the pixel URL obtained from the previous step.

Then, choose your desired Permutive cohort from the dropdown 'Target this reaction to...'.

The Trigger you set won't affect the pixel in this scenario as Permutive DMP fires the pixel once per user per day when they land in the cohort.
