How to Interpret the Index Number
- For every report that uses an index, 100 is the base and demonstrates an even likelihood.
- If the index is above 100, this indicates more of a likelihood.
- If the index is below 100, this indicates less of a likelihood.
There are two ways to interpret a positive index number, either as a decimal or as a percentage:
- An index of 125 would either be 1.25x more likely or 25% more likely.
- An index of 245 would either be 2.45x more likely or 145% more likely.
Below are some more detailed examples of how to read the reports that use an index.
Index and Overlap
'Users in my Sports Lovers segment (1) are 1.13x more likely (2) to fall into my Animal Lovers segment (3) when compared to all users in my base segment, Everyone (4).'
OR
'Users in my Sports Lovers segment (1) are 13% more likely (2) to fall into my Animal Lovers segment (3) when compared to all users in my base segment, Everyone (4).'
Third-party - Demographics
'Users in my Sports Lovers segment (1) are 1.03x more likely (2) to fall into Eyeota's (3) '35 - 44' age bracket (4) when compared to all users in my base segment, Everyone (5).'
OR
'Users in my Sports Lovers segment (1) are 3% more likely (2) to fall into Eyeota's (3) '35 - 44' age bracket (4) when compared to all users in my base segment, Everyone (5).'
Third-party - B2B
'Users in my Sports Lovers segment (1) are less likely (2) to fall into Bombora's (3) 'Department: Service Industry' audience (4) when compared to all users in my base segment, Everyone (5).'
Content Read
'Users in my Sports Lovers segment (1) are 1.09x more likely (2) to be reading the 'Rugby World Cup 2019 in numbers' (3) article when compared to all users in my base segment, Everyone.'
OR
'Users in my Sports Lovers segment (1) are 9% more likely (2) to be reading the 'Rugby World Cup 2019 in numbers' (3) article when compared to all users in my base segment, Everyone.'
Note: The base segment for the Content Read tab cannot be changed and will always be the 'Everyone' segment.
