Steps to set up the SFMC integration
About
Using the Permutive Salesforce Marketing Cloud integration you can build and manage your customer journeys using Permutive cohorts.
Click here to find out how to send Permutive cohorts to SFMC.
Adding the Integration
You can click this link to go directly to the integrations page, or find it using the instructions below.
1. Visit the Permutive Dashboard and go to 'Settings'
2. Choose 'Integrations'
3. Click '+ Add Integration'

4. Select the 'Salesforce Marketing Cloud' Integration

3. Enter the details needed to configure the integration and click Add Integration
Determine the Subdomain, in the SFMC UI:
- Head to Administration under your email address (top-right, where logout is)
- Click the General Settings box
- Identify the text after Portfolio Base URL or SOAP WSDL (just the parts between https:// and the first full stop)
- e.g. https://my-subdomain.soap.marketingcloudapis.com/Service.asmx would be my-subdomain
For each Business Unit (that you want to send data to) you must configure API integrations in SFMC to allow Permutive to send data:
- In Installed Packages under the Account drop down (top-left) select New button in the top right
- Pick a name and description, eg. “Permutive {name-of-business-unit}”
- Select Add Component and pick API Integration (should be automatically selected)
- Check Perform server-to-server requests... (this should be auto-selected)
- Scroll down and under Data, Data Extensions grant Read and Write
- In the new API Integration box in Components record the Client Id and Client Secret. These are specific to each Business Unit so the unit they correspond to should be recorded
- (The subdomain is also visible here and should match with the subdomain previously determined)
If you wish to revoke Permutive's access to a specific Business Unit then delete the package in Installed Packages.
Note: In the Permutive Dashboard each individual Business Unit will need to be set up separately with the following details:
Name - Should be alphanumeric (spaces allowed). This is used in the Permutive dashboard and is also the name given to each data folder created in Marketing Cloud (it does not need to be the MID)
Client ID - Generated when package installed (see above)
Client Secret - Generated when package installed (see above)
Alias Tag - This should be synced from Permutive to SFMC (as supplied via permutive.identify
in the SDK) eg. alias-tag-a

To add more than one Business Unit, select the + Business unit button.
Select Add Salesforce Marketing Cloud. The integration will be available for use in under 20 minutes.
