We will cover the basics of the Pageview Engagement event.
Permutive collects default data and additional engagement data on every Pageview Engagement event.
The Pageview Engagement event fires every 5 seconds, if the user has been actively engaged on the page in the last 5 seconds e.g. moving the mouse, clicking, scrolling.
On every Pageview Engagement event Permutive collects the extra following properties:
Name | ID | Type | Required | Description |
Completion | completion | Float | Optional | The percentage of the page scrolled by the user since the last Pageview Engagement event fired. This is shown as a decimal. |
Engaged Time | engaged_time | Integer | Optional | This is always '5' as each Pageview Engagement event represents 5 seconds of active engagement. |
Total Completion | total_completion | Float | Optional | The total percentage of the page completed since the user first arrived. Shown as a decimal. |
Total Engaged Time | total_engaged_time | Integer | Optional | The total engaged time on the page completed since the user first arrived. |
We strongly recommend creating 'engagement' cohorts of users who have been actively engaged on your site. These can be combined with interest cohorts to generate highly valuable cohorts of users who are interested in a topic and highly engaged in their current session.
Pageview Engagement events can be disabled via the Web Integration.
