There are two main purposes for creating segments in Permutive. Segments for analytics and segments for targeting.

When creating segments for analytics, they should be live for around 30 days to be accurate. These segments can help you understand how your audiences perform and should be created preemptively so you can index your segments in the analytics dashboards.

Examples of analytics segments include iPhone Users, Google Referrers, Males/Females.
